Information you give us
We only collect information you choose to send us:
- Newsletter and ebook signups: your email address, and your name if you provide one.
- Contact and tip submissions: the message you write, plus any name or email address you include.
How we use it
We use your email address to send you news updates, the Parent Field Guide, and replies to messages you send us. We use tips and questions to inform our reporting. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
Tips and confidentiality
You may submit a tip without giving your name. If you ask us to keep your identity confidential, we will not publish it. No web form is perfectly secure, so for highly sensitive information consider contacting us from a personal device and non-work email account.
Technical information
Our hosting and infrastructure providers may process standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested in order to serve the site securely and to guard against abuse and spam.
Third-party services
We rely on service providers for hosting, database storage, and email delivery. We also use Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity as described below. These providers process data under their applicable terms and privacy policies.
Analytics and session insights
Google Analytics 4 helps us understand visits to public pages and successful newsletter, Parent Field Guide, contact, and comment submissions. These events describe the action and form location, not the names, email addresses, or message contents submitted. Our custom page-view events omit URL query strings.
Microsoft Clarity provides insights such as heatmaps and session recordings of public-page interactions, including clicks, scrolling, and device and browser information. Google Analytics and Clarity may use cookies and similar technologies. Our implementation excludes the private admin area from these services; it does not send subscriber records or confidential tip contents as analytics event parameters.

Retention and your choices
We keep subscriber records until you unsubscribe, and message submissions for as long as they are editorially useful. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or ask us to delete your information through our contact page.
Children
This site is written for parents and caregivers. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
